Public-safety policy

Useful information, carefully handled.

We prioritize information residents can use: official alerts, road closures, weather, and verified agency updates. We are not an emergency notification service. For emergencies, call 911 and follow official agency instructions.

Scanner traffic is a lead, not confirmation. Unverified radio interpretations, raw audio, and transcripts are not published. Any future licensed radio-source integration must follow its approved use and retention requirements.

Deaths, serious injuries, missing children, sexual offenses, domestic violence, mental-health crises, juvenile information, active tactical operations, and stories identifying private people require human review. If review is unavailable, the item stays unpublished.

We avoid unnecessary private addresses, graphic details, speculation, and wording that declares an accused person guilty. Attribution and timestamps accompany published information.

A resolved incident or an expired alert should not be presented as an active emergency. Material errors receive a visible correction; retracted items carry an explanation without repeating harmful information unnecessarily.
